Steve Ruthenberg, General Manager, PGA Member:
Steve has been a member of the Professional Golfers Association of America for over 22 years. He has taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities. He is an adjunct professor for the MSU Kinesiology Department. He is the author of two books "Golf Fore Beginners" and "Golf Fore Kids."
Tom Kang,Teaching Professional, Level 3 PGA Apprentice:
As a PGA Apprentice, Tom is a graduate of Michigan State University and the San Diego Golf Academy. He is entering his 7th year as part of the Golf Center Staff, Fluent in Korean and a level 2 certified Jim Hardy Plane Truth instructor, Tom is a valuable addition to the instructional staff at the Golf Center.
Bryan Harris, Teaching Professional, PGA Member:
A graduate of the Professional Golf Management program at Ferris State University, Bryan brings a wealth of experience to our staff. Bryan has experience working at PGA National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida and Walnut Hills Country Club in East Lansing.
Alex Lorencz, PGA Apprentice - Graduate and golf team captain of Trine University, Alex has wealth of competitive golf experience. He is currently a level 1 PGA Apprentice. With his great enthusiasm and passion for teaching, Alex is a invaluable addition to our instructional staff.
Stephene Benkert, Teaching Professional, Golf Shop Manager:
Stephene joined Forest Akers in the spring of 1998. She was a member of the MSU Women's Golf Team and gained experience at Fair Oaks Golf Park in Fairfax, Virginia, and at Swing Video Golf Academy in Monroe, Michigan. Stephene served as the Golf Coach for the Okemos High School Girls Varsity Golf Team for 5 seasons.
Myung Sun Huh, Teaching professional, MBA - Myung is an USGTF golf teaching professional. She studied for a PhD in the Michigan State University Department of Park and recreation. She brings her great enthusiasm of teaching from several Universities including MSU to Forest Akers. Myung is a Korean government certified Korean-English-Japanese interpreter and an amateur tennis champion in Korea.

Playing Lessons
Join the professional of your choice for 2 hours of instruction on the course and on the practice tee. Develop a winning on-course strategy based on your abilities while improving your scoring potential. Early morning or late afternoon reservations recommended.

Customize Your Own Golf School
The professional staff can customize a golf school for your group. You can determine how many hours per dayand what particular aspect of the game your group would like to cover. A great opportunity to build the foundation of a correct golf swing while establishing confidence and promoting consistency.

Custom Club Fitting
The Golf Center is committed to total performance of all players. Whether in one of our golf classes or individual lessons we strive to help you succeed. We are committed to providing our customers the finest and most innovative equipment available. Our philosophy is that correctly fitted golf equipment is part of the equation for success in golf. Every golfer needs to know that properly fitted equipment can help a swing tremendously and ill-fitted equipment can negatively effect a golfers' swing and ability to improve.
We are excited to offer a comprehensive equipment evaluation and recommendation for equipment that fits your game. The professional staff can evaluate your current set composition, and then suggest and dynamically fit the 14 clubs that produce your best golf.
The Golf Center offers a custom-fitting program with Nike Golf Products. Whether looking for a new set of irons, the correctly fitted driver, wedge or putter, let our professional staff improve your game.
Custom Club Fitting Fee: $60.00
If purchasing clubs recommended during the Custom Club Fitting Session, the price of the fitting will be reimbursed through a $60.00 range card at the Golf Center at Michigan State University.
